This module includes an introduction to auxeticity and auxetic behavior, starting with a review of closed kinematic chains, with a few examples of where they occur in the body at different scale levels. Poisson’s ratio is discussed, as auxetic materials have a negative Poisson’s ratio. We explored auxeticity in our bodies in movement, and raised questions for somatic practitioners to consider related to this topic.
