For decades, movement and manual therapists like you have relied on finely tuned intuition.
You can feel the moment something shifts under your hands—when tissue softens, breath deepens, or movement reorganizes.
But while intuition remains the cornerstone of great practice, new research is revealing why those changes occur. The emerging science of bioplasticity—the body’s ability to adapt and reorganize at every level, from cell to self—is reshaping what we know about touch, movement, and change.
Understanding bioplasticity doesn’t replace your intuition. It deepens it. It connects what you feel to what’s happening in living tissues, neural pathways, and even belief systems—showing that change isn’t something you do to a client, but something you invite through information, attention, and safety.
Across the somatic and manual therapy worlds, practitioners are integrating this research so their work stays current, credible, and deeply effective.
As a physical therapist and Trager® practitioner who’s spent more than four decades exploring where science meets somatic experience, I've kept up with scientific advances that are useful for us to know.
Early in my career, I could feel change happening in my clients, but my training didn’t explain how. The language was mechanical, yet what I felt was alive, responsive, intelligent.
When I began studying the cellular and neural science behind our work, things finally clicked—and so did the results.
These discoveries transformed how I practiced—and how my clients responded.
What once felt like mystery now felt like partnership. Clients weren’t just improving; they were learning through their bodies.
Through Tragerology, my online learning community, I’ve shared these discoveries with practitioners who want to integrate science without losing the essence of their touch, so that their clients are more engaged, have better outcomes, and they spread their results through word-of marketing readily. And as a result, practitioners feel more connected to their clients, and they get more referrals.
As I continued teaching, members began asking for a way to connect all these ideas—something that would give them a clear map of how the science fits together.
They wanted to understand how to explain their work, how to apply the science, and how to keep learning without overwhelm.
So, in response to those requests, I created The Practitioner Power Pack: Science That Changes Bodies—a concise, high-impact collection of modules designed to meet exactly what practitioners were asking for: clear, relevant science that enhances, not replaces, the art of their practice.
Amrita Daigle-Trager Instructor and Senior Practitioner
These Tragerology modules keep enriching both my practitioner and personal life. The more I learn how health is influenced by so many elements — from beliefs and lifestyle to (modifiable) gene expression — the more I understand how to explore my own wellbeing potential, and why I would choose a particular touch, word, movement, suggestion or pause to meet this client's needs and style in the moment. This makes me feel equipped, creative, relevant and confident.
The module on mechanotransduction has helped me understand how communication with the clients' nervous system actually happens. That knowledge, and the learning available in the bioplasticity modules has already changed how I work, and how I understand my own self. The challenge and fun are in figuring out how to share all this exciting, science-based information with clients in ways they understand, and that inspire awe and hope. Witnessing clients move from fear to curiosity, or from defeated to resilient brings me joy, and inspires me to explore my own bioplasticity and continue learning!
Each module takes one aspect of adaptation—the mechanical, the structural, the cognitive, and the neural—and shows how they interconnect. You’ll discover how every moment of touch and movement offers information that tissues and the nervous system use to reorganize.
It’s science you can feel, and language you can use.
The science of body change is evolving rapidly. New fascia research, advances in pain-science models, and growing client curiosity mean today’s practitioners need to speak both sensation and science.
Those who can connect current research with embodied experience will build more trust, attract more engaged clients, and stay ahead of professional trends in 2025 and beyond.
